The department of design offers undergraduate- and graduate-level professional programs in Communication Design, Fashion Design, Interaction Design, and Interior Design. The undergraduate curriculum offers both a graphic and user-centered design concentration that helps students develop marketable skills and deep knowledge for diverse design settings. Our students create work that is competitive on a national level, having garnered recognition from Communication Arts Magazine, Print Magazine, Creative Quarterly, Graphis New Talent, the Addys, the Society of Publication Designers, the Adobe Design Achievement Awards, and the Art Directors Club. The BFA program in Communication Design at the College of Visual Arts and Design (CVAD) is guided by a curriculum that emphasizes the development of conceptual thinking as a means to address design problems in a graphic design industry job position.
